When level of uric acid in our body
increases beyond normal range, this condition is called hyperuricemia which
further can result in the development of gout. Gout is a disease condition
which causes pain which can worsen and lead to inflammatory arthritis.
A lot of people diagnosed with
hyperuricemia or gout look forward towards Ayurvedic medicine to reduce the
pain and sufferings. Ayurveda is five
thousand years old science, but it has gained popularity in western countries
in the past decades only.
In the Ayurvedic methodology, gout
is called ‘Vatarakta’. It’s believed that this disease occurs when the vata
dosha is vitiated or unbalanced. Ayurvedic
Treatment For High Uric Acid and gout is completely herbal and side
effect free. Basic methodology is the 3 doshas theory i.e. Vata, pitta &
kapha. It is said that everybody has a predominant dosha, which is determined
at the time of birth & is the main energy in the body. Your dosha
determines your body type, your strengths, your weaknesses, possible illnesses
you will have in future. According to Ayurveda, understanding your dosha can
help you to figure out the reason behind the disease and how to overcome the
complications with lifestyle changes & herbs to achieve balance.
Ayurvedic vs. allopathic treatment for high uric Acid
Basically, Ayurveda takes a
holistic approach to human health. Ayurvedic treatment involves herbs as well
as lifestyle changes, such as exercise, meditation, and diet.
In allopathic medicine, there are a
number of different treatment protocol for gout. These include:
• NSAIDs
(Nonsteroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs), corticosteroids, and colchicines, all
of which reduce pain and inflammation
• Xanthine
oxidase inhibitors, reduce the level of uric acid in blood.
• Probenecid,
which helps the kidneys to excrete acid from the blood.
• Lifestyle
& dietary changes, such as reducing non-vegetarian (meat), dairy products
and alcohol intake or cutting those foods out altogether
Allopathic medicines used in treatment of gout have to be continued for a long time and they come with a bundle of side effects. For this reason, people explore alternative medicine systems such as Ayurveda for gout treatment.
